“We used to live in palaces!”

A long time ago, shih-tzus were the favorite dogs of Chinese emperors. Imagine us trotting down shiny palace halls with silk ribbons in our hair!

“Our name means… Little Lion!”

Even though we’re tiny, our name in Chinese is “lion dog.” We may not roar, but we can snort and snuffle really well.

“We’re super brave!”

Don’t let our size fool you—shih-tzus have big, courageous hearts. We’ll bark at things much bigger than us if we think our family needs protecting!

We were bred to sit on laps, so we’re basically professional snugglers. Warm blanket + a shih-tzu = pure happiness.

If you let it grow, our silky fur can touch the floor like a princess’s gown. But… we don’t mind rocking a short haircut either—it’s much easier for adventures!
